7 Years Hard Luck.

April 23, 2012

After seven years of competing in Olympic weightlifting, I finally got to stand on the medal podium.   I’m not sure what that says about me (if anything) other than the fact that I REALLY enjoy Olympic weightlifting.  In any case, I was happy.  I’d like to thank my training partners.  Without you, I’m nothing.  Thank you to my parents.  Whenever I’m figuratively on rep 18 of a 225 football combine max bench press for reps, you’re there to give me a spot and make sure I hit at least 22 before I rack the weight.  And thank you for reading.  Seriously, it means a lot.

CC killed it.  3rd place at her 2nd National meet?  Yeah buddy.  Her progress is simply amazing.  Afterwards, she decided to take up her Front squats for a PR triple just for good measure.

Got back from class when these were on and just caught the end of your C&J session and the medals. Congrats man, you deserve it.

Also thought I’d mention that the “You lift like a girl” video got posted on reddit and almost every single post was a compliment to CC, concerning form, flexibility, looks, and her workout attire. She may have some new followers haha.

Btw, I finished my final architectural renderings and boards for this semester and whatnot if you’re interested in seeing them.

      Thanks, man!

I know . . . I was hoping to preserve CC’s identity by calling her CC, but she is now clearly youtube famous.

And yeah I totally want to check out your work!

  2. Congratulations.

Glad I’ve found this blog. Just the kind of stuff that someone new to the Oly lifting side of training needs. Get me to the gym!

Congratulations mate. Huge fan of the blog. I play and train for rugby currently but one day hope to (make a futile attempt to) master the full lifts and it’s sites like this that make me feel passionate about it

Congratulations, Ben. I’m on the 70’s Big readers & I look forward to checking in every week. Also, fuckin’ rad song choice – that’s my favorite track from the Suburbs. Go see them live.

Congradufuckinlations my dude. Your blog inspired me to join an Olympic lifting gym, which I did last night. Thanks for all the work and I look forward to reading more!

  10. Congratulations to you and CC! Great work! And Ben, your story is inspiring because you have not given up and made steady progress.

When I was watching the national meet video the first couple of drum beats reminded me of this song.

Could you please tell me the name of the band and the song in this video? It’s an awesome tune…

    Thanks!

This is a remix of Sprawl II, by Arcade Fire. It’s my favorite track from their album, The Suburbs. I’m not sure who made this remix, but I’m sure if you googled “Arcade Fire Sprawl II (mountain beyond mountains) remix” you should find it.
