Yup.

I let Rae “help” me do the video commentary on this last video.  I’m not sure what I was expecting would happen.  But this is pretty typical.

400lb. Clean and jerk.

November 13, 2013

Today I made an effort to inspire today’s youth.

I’ll forever be ingrained in that kid’s memory as “that asshole who clean and jerked 400lbs.”

It feels good to make a difference.

Week 6.

November 13, 2013

Here’s my new video production.  In it, I showcase my two lifters, Jason and Emelie as they finish up the last week of a grueling 12 weeks of front squats.  Front squats are probably one of the most taxing thing on a weightlifter’s schedule and I think we can all identify with the pain and frustration that often comes along after many, many weeks of front squats.

Accompanied by a wonderful cover of a Radiohead classic, idioteque.

Billy.

November 12, 2013

I reenacted this scene from Predator tonight (with chalk) as I worked my way up doing cleans off the low blocks.  I went for a PR double at 173.

Billy died during this scene.  I didn’t do much better.

Here’s a film featuring someone whom I’ve had the honor of training with while he was still at California Strength, Donny Shankle.  The film is especially pertinent to me because I partake in both activities featured in the film (not oil painting specifically).  In fact, I even did some artwork for Donny himself (check out the T-shirts and keychains on his blog.)

Did you watch it yet?  I mean, the expression, “I know that feel, bro”  could not be applied any more appropriately.

Golden West Open 2013.

November 5, 2013

Both Jason and I competed at the Golden West Open in Redding this weekend.  We both had pretty huge days.  Jason especially killed it going 6/6 hitting 125 and 160.  I went 4/6 hitting 143 and 177, giving me the total I need to lift in the A session in the American Open.

Here’s the video from this weekend.  Big thanks to Redding Barbell for doing such a great job hosting the contest.
